Students to Receive Ready-Made Meals, Packaged Foods During School Holiday

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Special Staff of the National Nutrition Agency (BGN) Redy Hendra Gunawan ensures that schoolchildren will continue receiving free nutritious meals during the school holiday. 

"The meals will be enough for 6 days, with distribution taking place on Mondays and Thursdays," said Redy in a press conference observed via the agency's YouTube channel on Monday, June 30, 2025.

According to Redy, each pack contains ready-made meals and packaged foods, which include bread, eggs, milk, and fruit.

On Monday, the students will receive both ready-made meals and packaged foods. The ready-made meals will be consumed on Monday, while the packaged foods are saved for Tuesday and Wednesday.

Another package will be distributed on Thursday, with the ready-made meals to be consumed on Thursday. The rest of the packaged foods are intended for Friday and Saturday.

The packaging used for the distribution is reusable to avoid polluting the environment, according to Redy.

Additionally, Redy said there have been 1,861 nutrition fulfillment service units (SPPGs) established. BGN will continue to increase the number of public kitchens to expedite the free nutritious meal program. Redy claimed that there are already 22 thousand parties registered as partners. BGN is currently verifying the partners.

BGN head Dadan Hindayana previously affirmed that the free nutritious meal program will resume during the school holiday, with several adjustments.

"Because the free meals will be sent to school, so the SPPG heads must record how many children are willing to come to school on holidays," said Dadan after attending a meeting at the Coordinating Ministry of Food Affairs on Thursday, June 26.

If no students are willing to attend, the SPPG will still produce free nutritious meals to serve pregnant women, lactating mothers, and toddlers.
