TEMPO.CO, Garut - Tragedy struck the wedding party of West Java Governor Dedi Mulyadi's eldest son with the Vice Regent of Garut, Luthfianisa Putri Karlina. Three people were reportedly killed in a stampede that occurred as the entrance to the wedding hall was opened.
Two of the casualties were civilians, while one was a police officer. The bodies of the two civilians are currently held at the dr. Slamet Regional Hospital morgue, while the police officer is at the army-owned Guntur Hospital.
Based on gathered information, the three fatalities are Vania Aprilia, 8 years old, from Sukamentri Village, Garut Kota District; Dewi Jubaedah, 61 years old; and Chief Police Brigadier Cecep Saeful Bahri, 39 years old.
The three victims were reportedly trampled when the entrance to the wedding hall was opened, as a crowd of people rushed into the venue to attend the public celebration and enjoy free food offered at the wedding.
No one is willing to give comments on the incident, thus far. The head of the Criminal Investigation Unit of the Garut Resort Police, Police Commissioner Joko Prihatin, refused to give any comments. "No comment," he said at the dr. Slamet Garut Regional Hospital.
Vice Regent of Garut Luthfianisa Putri Karlina was married to Maula Akbar Mulyadi Putra. The marriage ceremony took place on Wednesday, July 16, 2025, at around 1:00 p.m. local time, at the Garut Regency Hall.
The marriage has captured the attention of the West Java public, as Maula is the eldest son of West Java Governor Dedi Mulyadi. Born on November 4, 1999, he is also a member of the West Java Regional House of Representatives (DPRD) from the Gerindra faction for the 2024-2029 period.
Meanwhile, Putri Karlina is the eldest daughter of the Chief of the Jakarta Metro Police Inspector General Karyoto and Lina Iskandar. A mother of three born on March 14, 1993, she began her political career in the 2024 regional elections.
The wedding ceremonies began on Monday, July 14, 2025, starting with a ceremonial bathing ritual. The following day, a procession of seserahan-giving, or wedding gift-giving, was held in Leuwi Asri, Bayongbong.
