TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Voice of Istiqlal (Voist) Director Mulyono Lodji received the 2026 Japanese Ambassador to Indonesia Award for his contributions to improving relations between Indonesia and Japan.
"Mr. Mulyono Lodji truly deserves this award for his extraordinary contribution to strengthening relations between Japan and Indonesia," said Myochin Mitsuru, Charge d'Affaires ad Interim (KUAI) of the Japanese Embassy, as quoted by ANTARA.
Mitsuru said this in his speech at the award ceremony at his residence in Jakarta on Wednesday. He said that the Japanese Embassy had long enjoyed increasingly strong cross-border relations.
"Let us continue to build on the strong foundation of trust that has been established and walk together towards a harmonious future for our two countries," he said.
Meanwhile, Mulyono expressed his appreciation for the award given to him by the Japanese Embassy.
"For me, this award is more appreciation than I could have hoped for, and I dedicate it to the Indonesian people who have been paying close attention to building friendship between Indonesia and Japan," he said.
According to him, the award is not the end of a journey, but rather a momentum to continue maintaining relations, mutual respect, increasing mutual understanding, and strengthening friendship between the people of the two countries.
Since taking office at the Istiqlal Mosque in Jakarta in 2020, Mulyono has served as a coordinator between the Japanese Embassy in Indonesia and Istiqlal, both when Japanese officials visit Istiqlal and during events to promote Japanese culture in Indonesia.
He is one of the alumni of the JENESYS Islamic Youth Program in 2022, namely a youth exchange program between Japan and countries and the Asia Pacific region which aims to deepen mutual understanding between Japan and countries in the region as well as promote understanding of politics, economics, social issues, culture, history, foreign policy and other aspects of Japan.
He also initiated the formation of the JENESYS Program alumni association, which was then inaugurated at the Istiqlal Mosque in September 2025.
