Why Prabowo Gathered 150 Kadin Leaders at the Palace

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - President Prabowo Subianto gathered business leaders from the Indonesian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (Kadin) at the Presidential Palace in Jakarta. Around 150 business figures attended the meeting held on Friday, July 31, 2026.

Indonesian Chamber of Commerce and Industry Chairperson Anindya Novyan Bakrie noted that Kadin heads from all 38 provinces accepted the President’s invitation. "They want to discuss how we can together improve regional economic growth," Anindya said at the Presidential Palace.

In addition to regional Kadin leaders, Anindya added that representatives from 30 trade and business associations were also in attendance. "So the discussions should be very interesting," he said.

He recalled that Prabowo had previously hosted Kadin business leaders at his private residence in Hambalang, West Java, last August. At that meeting, Anindya noted, the President cautioned that global economic and geopolitical landscapes were heading toward turbulence. "Just as we are seeing now," he said.

Anindya explained that business leaders sought to consult with Prabowo on how to deal with the turbulent conditions. He emphasized that the business community remains focused on finding practical solutions while maintaining an optimistic outlook, adding that such efforts require clear coordination between industry leaders and the government.

Prabowo also brought several cabinet ministers into the meeting. Among those attending were Finance Minister Purbaya Yudhi Sadewa, Energy and Mineral Resources Minister Bahlil Lahadalia, Agriculture Minister Amran Sulaiman, and Cabinet Secretary Teddy Indra Wijaya.

Days before the Palace meeting, Anindya had met with Cabinet Secretary Teddy at the Cabinet Secretariat office in Jakarta on Monday, July 27, 2026. Their talks covered national economic growth and the development of the domestic electric vehicle ecosystem.

"They also examined the readiness of the national electric vehicle ecosystem in line with President Prabowo Subianto's directive to promote the development of a national electric motorcycle," Teddy stated in a written release regarding his meeting with Anindya.
