TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Indonesia's Former Minister of Education, Culture, Research, and Technology (Mendikbudristek) Nadiem Makarim is scheduled to undergo questioning by the Attorney General's Office (AGO) regarding alleged corruption in the procurement of Chromebook laptops at the Ministry of Education, Culture, Research, and Technology during the 2019-2022 period today.

"On Tuesday, as scheduled and after the summons had been issued, we expect the individual to be in attendance," said the Head of the Legal Information Center of the Attorney General's Office, Harli Siregar, on Monday, July 14, 2025. This is the second time Nadiem has been questioned by the Attorney General's Office, after previously requesting a postponement of the questioning on July 8, 2025.

Yesterday, the attorney's office also questioned Nadiem's former colleague at Gojek, former Director of PT. Aplikasi Karya Anak Bangsa (Gojek), Andre Soelistyo, and the President Director of Tokopedia and TikTok E-Commerce Indonesia, Melissa Siska Juminto. Both were questioned for more than 12 hours by investigators. In the attorney's examination release, Melissa is written as the owner of PT Go-Jek Indonesia.

Recently, the attorney's office also conducted a search of the offices of PT Gojek Tokopedia Tbk (GoTo) on Iskandarsyah Street, Melawai, South Jakarta on July 8, 2025. GoTo is the result of the merger of two companies, Gojek and Tokopedia, in 2021. Nadiem is one of the founders of Gojek.

Prior to this, the Attorney General's Office had also conducted searches at three other locations, namely the apartments of two former Nadiem staff members, Jurist Tan and Fiona Handayani, as well as the residence of a former consultant of the Ministry of Education, Culture, Research, and Technology, Ibrahim Arief.

There are no suspects in this case. The investigation is based on an order for investigation on May 20, 2025. The Attorney General's Office mentioned alleged corruption in the procurement of laptops with Chromebook operating systems, which incurred a budget of Rp 9.9 trillion. Prosecutors allege that there was a manipulation of the study results, leading to the selection of Google products as the items procured for the digitalization program of the Ministry of Education, instead of Windows.

Law enforcement officials familiar with this case stated that the search of GoTo was prompted by investigators wanting to ascertain whether there was a Google investment in GoTo that influenced the selection of Chromebook.
