TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The president director of mining giant Freeport Indonesia, Tony Wenas, said he's targeting 26 tons of gold production in 2026, which will be supplied to PT Aneka Tambang Tbk. (Antam).
Thus far, Tony explained, gold supplies to Antam have reached US$1 billion in value. "So, we are seeking 26 tons in gold production for 2026," he said on November 26, 2025.
Tony predicts a decrease in gold and copper production next year due to the landslide incident at Grasberg Block Cave on September 8, 2025. Copper production is estimated to drop by around 32 percent, while gold is expected to slip by more than 40 percent. However, he hopes that the metal commodity prices will remain good next year, thereby reducing the losses from production declines.
In a hearing with Commission VI of the House of Representatives on November 24, 2025, Tony projected the copper price in 2026 to reach US$4.75 per pound, up from the previous projection of US$3.75 per pound.
Meanwhile, the gold price is estimated to reach US$4,000 per troy ounce, far above the initial assumption of US$1,900 per troy ounce. With these price projections, he continued, the company's revenue next year is estimated to reach US$8.3 billion, or 98 percent of the old RKAB target of US$8.5 billion. Revenues for the state are expected to be higher than expected, at US$2.9 billion, equivalent to 107 percent of the initial projection of US$2.7 billion.
