TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - London has retained its crown as the world’s most liveable city for the 11th year in a row, according to the Resonance Consultancy World's Best Cities Report 2026.
The ranking underscores London’s enduring appeal as a global hub that combines economic strength, vibrant urban life, and unmatched cultural allure, even amid stiff competition from other major cities.
The report, cited by Travel and Leisure Asia, evaluated over 270 cities with populations exceeding one million. Rankings were based on a mix of core statistics and user-generated data from platforms such as Google, Instagram, and TikTok.
Ranking Method Explained
Resonance Consultancy assessed 46 metrics across 30 categories, measuring factors such as education, culture, connectivity, nightlife, and safety.
These metrics were grouped into three pillars: Livability, Loveability, and Place Power Prosperity, which together form the overall Place Power Score. The analysis also included insights from more than 21,000 respondents across 31 countries to identify the cities most desirable for living, visiting, or working.
Why London Leads
London led in multiple categories, ranking first in prosperity, second in loveability, and third in livability, the most achievements of any city in the survey.
The report highlighted London’s world-class airports, major corporations, and evolving skyline, along with its ongoing ability to attract tourists, students, and entrepreneurs.
Following London, New York ranks second overall, praised as the “eternal heartbeat of America” and a top performer in Google Trends and corporate investment.
Paris takes third, celebrated for its museums and global cultural influence, while Tokyo comes in fourth.
Madrid climbs to fifth, surpassing Singapore, thanks to its nightlife, sustainable initiatives, and urban regeneration projects. Dubai re-enters the top 10 at eighth place, and Sydney narrowly misses the top tier.
