TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Indonesian citizen (WNI) with the initials 'AP', who was repatriated from Myanmar, has arrived back in the homeland. AP arrived in Indonesia on a Garuda Indonesia GA 867 flight from Bangkok, Thailand, and landed at Terminal 3 of Soekarno-Hatta Airport on Monday night, July 21, 2025, around 6:30 PM.
The Acting Head of the Soekarno-Hatta Immigration Office, Galih Priya Kartika Perdhana, stated that AP, known as a social media influencer, was recorded leaving the Indonesian territory on December 13, 2024, through Soekarno-Hatta Airport, using an electronic passport that is still valid until 2034.
"Upon arrival in the homeland, AP, along with the accompanying team, was directed to the Immigration Inspection Place at Soekarno-Hatta Airport in a limited and separate manner from regular passengers," said Galih in a written statement on Tuesday, July 22, 2025.
According to Galih, the immigration document inspection process was carried out in a limited manner to consider security aspects and to ensure the comfort of other regular passengers.
AP's repatriation process is the result of synergy between the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Directorate General of Immigration, Ministry of Law and Human Rights of the Republic of Indonesia. "Through solid inter-agency coordination, the entire process of repatriation, from deportation to immigration document inspection at Soekarno-Hatta Airport, proceeded smoothly, safely, and in accordance with procedures," said Galih.
AP has been detained by the authorities in Myanmar since December 2024, a country that has been in turmoil since the military coup four years ago. They are charged under the Anti-Terrorism Law, Immigration Law of 1947, and Section 17(2) of the Unlawful Associations Act.
This case came to light after being mentioned by a member of the Indonesian House of Representatives Commission I, Abraham Sridjaja, in a working meeting with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs at the parliament building, Senayan, on Monday, June 30, 2025. Abraham stated that there was an Indonesian citizen with the initials AP who had been detained in Myanmar since December last year.
