Java Jazz 2025 Presents 1,000 Musicians on 11 Stages

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The annual music event BNI Java Jazz Festival (JJF) is set to be held this weekend, from May 30 to June 1, 2025, at JIExpo Kemayoran, Central Jakarta. This year, Java Jazz celebrates two decades of being the largest jazz music festival in Asia.

President Director of Java Festival Production Dewi Gontha stated that almost 1,000 local and international musicians will perform at the festival over the three-day event. "11 stages with nearly 1,000 local and international musicians will perform at the Java Jazz Festival event in 2025," Dewi said in a press conference in the Sawah Besar area, Central Jakarta, on Wednesday, May 28, 2025.

20 Years of Java Jazz

This year, the Java Jazz Festival marks its 20th edition since it was first held in 2005. Dewi referred to this commemoration as an important moment in the festival's history. The highlight of the celebration titled 20 Years of Java Jazz Festival will take place on Sunday, June 1, 2025. "The performance will narrate our 20-year journey and the significance of Java Jazz," she said.

The show will bring together musicians who have performed at Java Jazz over the past two decades. They include Andien, Barry Likumahuwa, Dira Sugandi, Elfa Zulham, Endah 'n Rhesa, Humania, Indra Aziz, Maliq & D'Essentials, Nikita Dompas, Rafi Muhammad, Teddy Adhitya, Tompi, and Voxaccord.

Dewi emphasized that Java Jazz is not just a concert, but also a cultural meeting point and a place for the development of musicians. "We are not just selling tickets and providing entertainment, but also serving as a platform for the development of musicians," she said. According to her, many musicians began their careers at Java Jazz, including Andien. Additionally, several collaborations between Indonesian and international musicians were born after their meetings at this festival.

Line-Up of Local and International Performers

The BNI Java Jazz Festival 2025 will showcase three big names as special performers: Jacob Collier, Tunde Baiyewu (The Voice of Lighthouse Family), and Raye. Apart from them, other international musicians will also perform, including; Brian Simpson, BPM (Brian Bromberg, Paul Brown, Michael Paulo), Busty and the Bass, Cisco Swank, Jane Monheit, Jeff Lorber Fusion, Jesus Molina, Justin Lee Schultz, Kamasi Washington, Lettuce, Michael Mayo, Munir Hossn & Elas, Ron King Big Band, Shakatak, Snarky Puppy, Straight No Chaser, The Philharmonik, The Stevie Wonder Celebration, The Yussef Dayes Experience, Tony Monaco, and Yun Seok Cheol Trio.

Indonesian musicians will also fill various stages at the Java Jazz festival this year. The names include Adikara, Aib Show, Ambon Jazz Rock (Barry Likumahuwa ReWork), BLP, Andien, Bilal Indrajaya, Dreane, Endah N Rhesa Extended, Jordan Susanto, Jose Miguel, Nyoman Paul, Rahmania Astrini, Rieka Roslan & Nadadara, Rizky Febian, Rony Parulian, Syahravi, The Lantis, Tompi, Wijaya 80, and many more.
