Multiple Dead in Shooting at Idaho In-N-Out Burger, Gunman Also Killed

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Multiple people were killed, including the suspected gunman, after a shooting at a newly opened In-N-Out Burger restaurant in Twin Falls, Idaho, on Saturday, prompting a large-scale law enforcement response and an ongoing investigation into the attack.

Authorities said the shooting unfolded at one of the busiest commercial areas in southern Idaho, where hundreds of people were gathered at the time. Police have yet to confirm the exact number of victims and have not identified the suspected shooter or established a motive.

As reported by the Associated Press (AP), Twin Falls Police Chief Matthew Hicks described the incident as "a very chaotic scene" during a press conference on Saturday evening. He said officers believe the threat to the public has ended after the suspected gunman was found dead at the scene.

Police are continuing to notify victims' families while interviewing hundreds of witnesses who were present when the shooting occurred.

Witnesses described scenes of panic as gunfire erupted outside the restaurant.

Lane Koehn, who was stopped at a nearby traffic light, said he saw a person carrying what appeared to be an AR-style rifle emerge from the drive-thru area. He also witnessed another individual armed with a handgun exchange gunfire with the suspect.

Koehn said he later helped an In-N-Out employee who had dragged a wounded female coworker across the parking lot after she suffered a gunshot wound to the chest. Emergency medical personnel arrived shortly afterward.

Another witness, Haley Dodaro, said she and her mother were waiting in the drive-thru when restaurant employees suddenly fled the building as customers ran across nearby streets.

Initially believing there had been a fire, Dodaro said she realized it was an active shooting only after being warned by a traffic marshal.

Police temporarily closed surrounding roads and urged residents to avoid the area while emergency responders secured the scene.

According to the Los Angeles Times, local television station KTVB reported that at least three people were killed and two others were injured, although police have not officially confirmed those figures. Hicks said investigators are still determining the final casualty count.

The newspaper also reported that nearby residents were briefly instructed to shelter in place while authorities searched the area. The Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) was dispatched to assist local law enforcement with the investigation.

The Twin Falls restaurant had opened only on July 24 as part of In-N-Out Burger's expansion into Idaho. Company officials listed the location as temporarily closed following the shooting.

Twin Falls, home to roughly 56,000 residents, is located about 205 kilometers southeast of Boise and approximately 120 kilometers north of the Nevada border.

Authorities have asked anyone with information, photographs, or videos related to the shooting to contact investigators as the inquiry continues.
