Politeknik Tempo Graduates 25 Students, Many Already Enter Workforce

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta – Politeknik Tempo held its second graduation on Saturday, July 12, 2025, at the Auditorium of the National Library, Central Jakarta. As many as 25 students from the Media Production Study Program, Media Design, and International Marketing Management have been inaugurated as applied bachelors in the open senate session.

The Director of Politeknik Tempo, Shalfi Andri, stated that most of the graduates who were inaugurated today had been working before officially obtaining their bachelor's degree. Meanwhile, the rest are still actively involved in internship programs.

"Some graduates are even currently undergoing internships at various national companies," said Shalfi in his speech.

Nevertheless, according to Shalfi, Politeknik Tempo does not consider employment as the only measure of success in the education process. He reminds the graduates not to view employment as the ultimate goal in their careers."Education does not stop at graduation, but continues into life afterward," he said.

During the ceremony, the Head of the National Research and Innovation Agency (BRIN), Arif Satria, also delivered a scientific oration on job opportunities in the creative industry. Arif highlighted the high demand of the industry for skilled labor, especially in the continuously growing media and creative sectors due to rapid digital technology advancements.

However, Arif also pointed out the slow pace of technological innovation in the country. "Indonesia's main issue at present lies in the slow innovation in the technological field compared to other countries," said the former Rector of IPB University.

Therefore, Arif urged the public to boost innovation, especially as Indonesia is entering a demographic bonus period. He revealed that Indonesia's productive age population is the largest in Southeast Asia, with a projected dependency ratio set to reach its lowest point at 46.9 percent during the 2028-2031 period.

He added that a nation's progress is always supported by its people's innovation. Arif cited China as an example, capable of producing electric vehicles like BYD to rival Tesla's dominance, driven by China's innovation ecosystem able to register more than one million patent applications annually.

Arif is optimistic that Indonesia can seize these opportunities if the younger generation has the right mindset, such as the willingness to learn, adaptability, and perseverance in innovation. "The key lies in the mentality to continually adapt and create the future," he stated.

In this graduation, Politeknik Tempo also determined three outstanding graduates from each study program. They are Maya Syafira Haryanti from the Media Design department, Laila Rahmatillah from International Marketing Management, and Ariadne Khatarina Moniaga from Media Production.
