TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - PT Pertamina EP (PEP) Zone 4 targets to increase oil production to 30,305 barrels per day (BOPD) in 2026. In addition to oil, the company also aims for a gas production of 485.07 million cubic feet per day (MMSCFD) as part of efforts to strengthen Indonesia's energy supply.

"PEP Zone 4 is driving production growth through sustainable operational practices to support national energy resilience. Safety remains a priority in every operational activity," said General Manager PEP Zone 4 Djudjuwanto quoted from a written statement on Thursday, March 12, 2026.

The target is prepared through more measured operational strategies, especially by optimizing production from existing fields. The company will strengthen the development drilling program, integrate subsurface studies and production facilities, and utilize technology and data analysis to improve field economics.

To achieve this target, Djudjuwanto stated that PEP Zone 4 will continue the infill, interfield, and step-out drilling programs selectively. The program utilizes two- and three-dimensional seismic data, including passive seismic technology, to update geological and reservoir models.

Furthermore, the company is preparing a rejuvenation program for mature oil and gas fields. This program will optimize production facilities and apply technology to counteract the natural decline in production rates.

Djudjuwanto added that the 2026 production target was set based on the positive performance of PEP Zone 4 throughout 2025. Last year, the company recorded oil production of 27,643 BOPD and gas of 530.9 MMSCFD.

The increase in production is also evident from the contribution of the development drilling program. Oil production from this program soared from 385 barrels per day in 2019 to 3,874 barrels per day in 2025. Meanwhile, gas production from the same program increased from 0.34 MMSCFD to 12.21 MMSCFD, or about 40 times.

This spike aligns with the increase in drilling realization, which grew from nine work plans in 2019 to 69 in 2025.

"Throughout 2025, the company also realized various operational programs, including drilling 69 wells, 51 workover jobs, as well as 1,049 well intervention and well service activities. All of these activities were carried out with strict risk management," he said.

PEP Zone 4 is under Pertamina Hulu Rokan Regional Sumatra as part of the Pertamina Upstream Subholding. This area manages seven oil and gas working areas, namely Prabumulih Field, Limau Field, Adera Field, Pendopo Field, Ramba Field, as well as the Ogan Komering and Raja Tempirai working areas.

The operating area is spread across two cities, namely Prabumulih and Palembang, and nine regencies in South Sumatra, including Muara Enim, Penukal Abab Lematang Ilir (PALI), Lahat, Musi Rawas, Musi Rawas Utara, Musi Banyuasin, Banyuasin, Ogan Ilir, and Ogan Komering Ulu.
