TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Japanese technology company Sony is reportedly raising prices for PlayStation consoles in several global markets.

According to a report by GSMArena on Saturday, March 28, the price increase will affect several models, including the PlayStation 5, PlayStation 5 Digital Edition, and PlayStation 5 Pro.

The new prices will take effect on April 2, 2026, with the largest increase reported in the United States, where prices will rise by as much as US$100, or about Rp1.6 million.

In the U.S., the standard PlayStation 5 will be priced at US$649.99, while the Digital Edition will cost US$599.99.

The PlayStation 5 Pro will see a steeper increase, with its new price reaching US$899.99. Similar price hikes are also being introduced in Europe, the United Kingdom, and Japan, with the amount varying by region.

In addition to the main consoles, the PlayStation Portal remote player will also become more expensive in several markets.

Sony said the decision was made in response to challenging global economic conditions, including rising production costs and other external pressures. The company said the price adjustment was necessary to maintain its ability to deliver innovative, high-quality gaming experiences.

The move marks one of Sony’s biggest recent price adjustments for the PlayStation lineup and comes less than a year after a previous increase in August 2025.
