TEMPO.CO, Yogyakarta - Susi Air officially began operations at Adisutjipto Airport, commonly referred to as Yogyakarta's old airport, in early July 2025 by launching two new flight routes.
The first route, connecting Yogyakarta's Adisutjipto Airport (JOG) to Husein Sastranegara Airport in Bandung (BDO), was inaugurated on July 2. The second, linking Yogyakarta to Dewadaru Airport in Karimunjawa (KWB), followed on July 4.
"We hope that the service of these new routes can support the tourism sector, accelerate the mobility of the community, and facilitate the logistics from and to Karimunjawa-Yogyakarta," said Wibowo Cahyono Soekadi, General Manager of PT Angkasa Pura Indonesia at Adisutjipto Airport, on Wednesday, July 2, 2025.
Wibowo explained that the flights will use the Cessna Grand Caravan 208B aircraft, which has a capacity of 12 passengers. Each route will operate three times per week. Flights between Yogyakarta and Karimunjawa are scheduled for Mondays, Fridays, and Sundays, while the Yogyakarta-Bandung route will run on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays.
He added that the route expansion is part of a broader initiative to position Adisutjipto Airport as a strategic hub for air connectivity in central Indonesia. "The opening of new flight routes by Susi Air connecting Karimunjawa - Yogyakarta - Bandung is believed to strengthen air connectivity between regions," he said.
To support the new operations, various facilities and services have been prepared to ensure safe, efficient, and comfortable travel for passengers.
"The opening of these flight routes is a crucial milestone in improving the connectivity of the Karimunjawa island region with Java Island, particularly to major cities such as Yogyakarta," he added.
With these new routes, two of Indonesia’s key tourist destinations—Yogyakarta and Karimunjawa—are now directly connected by air.
