Defense Minister Sjafrie Sjamsoeddin stated that the Indonesian and French governments will sign a Letter of Intent (LOI) regarding the development of major strategic weapons systems (alutsista) during President Emmanuel Macron's visit to Indonesia.

"This is specifically for the strategic alutsista: fighter jets and submarines," said Sjafrie when welcoming Macron at the Halim Perdanakusuma Air Force Base, East Jakarta, on Wednesday, May 28, 2025.

2. Indonesia Sees Rp2,967tn in Renewable Energy Investment Potential

Indonesian Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources (ESDM) Bahlil Lahadalia stated that the implementation of the Electricity Supply Business Plan (RUPTL) 2025-2034 has the potential to unlock significant investment opportunities, particularly in the renewable energy sector. He estimated that the total investment opportunities that could be pursued during this period would reach Rp2,967.4 trillion.

Bahlil detailed that these investments are categorized into three main groups. The generation sector contributes the largest portion with a value of Rp2,133.7 trillion, followed by transmission network development amounting to Rp565.3 trillion, and the remaining Rp268.4 trillion allocated for investments in other supporting sectors.

3. French President Macron Meets Prabowo, Escorted by 50 Mounted Guards and 17 Police Escorts

Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto welcomed French President Emmanuel Macron and First Lady Brigitte Macron at the Merdeka Palace in Jakarta on Wednesday, May 28, 2025. Macron's convoy passed the National Monument intersection, where several children waved French and Indonesian flags along the way.

Macron's entourage emerged from the palace's viewpoint in Monas and entered the gates of the Merdeka Palace. Macron's convoy was escorted by 17 police motorcyclists and 50 mounted guards from the presidential security force. The convoy arrived at around 9:45 AM local time.
