TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The government has officially issued Government Regulation (PP) No. 30 of 2026, which adjusts fees for issuing citizenship documents. One key provision raises the fee for renouncing Indonesian citizenship upon request from Rp1 million to Rp5 million.
Director General of Legislation at the Ministry of Law Dhahana Putra confirmed the issuance of the new regulation. "Correct," Dhahana affirmed when contacted by Tempo on Monday, July 20, 2026.
President Prabowo Subianto signed the policy on July 2, 2026, and Minister of State Secretary Prasetyo Hadi promulgated it on the same day. According to Article 10, the regulation takes effect in August 2026, 30 days after its promulgation.
Reasons Behind the Fee Hike
Government Regulation No. 30 of 2026 replaces the previous regulation, Government Regulation No. 45 of 2024. Widodo, Director General of General Legal Administration (AHU) at the Ministry of Law, disclosed two primary reasons behind the fee adjustment:
- Ministry Restructuring: Nomenclature adjustments following the separation of the Ministry of Law and Human Rights.
- Digital Transformation: Enhancing the digital service quality within the Ministry of Law.
Widodo emphasized that the Rp5 million figure is the official service fee. The citizenship renunciation process itself requires strict verification across dozens of ministries and agencies.
"Are there any remaining obligations before an individual is designated as a foreign national and renounces Indonesian citizenship?" Widodo noted rhetorically yesterday.
Updated Citizenship Rates
Beyond the fee for renouncing Indonesian citizenship, Government Regulation No. 30 of 2026 also outlines detailed new rates for several other citizenship services:
- Renunciation of Indonesian citizenship upon request: Rp5,000,000
- Official Certificate of Loss of Indonesian Citizenship: Rp3,500,000
- Application for reacquiring Indonesian citizenship: Rp1,000,000
- Official Certificate of Remaining an Indonesian Citizen: Rp1,000,000
- Citizenship Status Certificate: Rp500,000 per application
All of these fee adjustments fall under the Non-Tax State Revenue (PNBP) applicable at the Ministry of Law.
