TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Indonesian Finance Minister Purbaya Yudhi Sadewa denies rumors about his resignation from the position of Finance Minister.
"It's not true," said Purbaya when confirmed by Antara in Jakarta, on Thursday, June 4, 2026.
These rumors circulated after Purbaya attended a Plenary Meeting regarding the revision of the Law on Amendments to Law Number 4 of 2023 concerning the Development and Strengthening of the Financial Sector (P2SK) at the Indonesian House of Representatives (DPR RI).
In the same meeting, Purbaya also participated in presenting the views of each DPR faction on the Macroeconomic Framework and Fiscal Policy Guidelines (KEM-PPKF).
After meeting with journalists, Purbaya stated that he would present the realization of the State Revenue and Expenditure Budget (APBN) until the end of May 2026.
According to Purbaya, the APBN deficit is 0.7 percent of the gross domestic product (GDP), with tax revenue growing 22 percent year over year (YOY).
"The fiscal situation is good. Tomorrow there will be KiTa APBN, you can ask again there. I will explain. If not, I'll repeat it. Basically, (the fiscal) is safe," said Purbaya.
Purbaya also admitted to meeting with the international rating agency S&P Global Ratings the previous day, Wednesday, June 3.
In that meeting, he explained Indonesia's fundamental economic and fiscal conditions.
"Basically, we explained our position as much as possible. So they can understand the foundation of our economy," said Purbaya.
The State Treasurer explained that the meeting with S&P Global Ratings is part of the government's obligation to provide explanations regarding Indonesia's economic conditions.
After receiving information from the government, S&P will further discuss it with its internal team.
"For the response, they will discuss it there with their team. So they are just seeking information, and we explain it as much as possible," said Purbaya.
