TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - PT Chery Sales Indonesia (CSI) has officially launched the development of an electric vehicle (EV) ecosystem in Indonesia by exploring a partnership with the Center for Vocational and Productivity Training (BBPVP) in Bekasi, West Java.
This partnership establishes BBPVP Bekasi as the primary training center for Chery technicians and opens up access for BBPVP Bekasi to produce skilled workers in the EV sector, ready to be absorbed by the Indonesian automotive industry.
"This collaboration aligns closely with the government's efforts to improve the quality of human resources in the energy transition era. We hope the synergy between industry and vocational training institutions will continue to expand for the sustainable advancement of the national automotive industry," said Minister of Manpower, Yassierli.
The Chery EV Training Center is equipped with various training modules that meet electric vehicle handling standards. This ensures technicians have a thorough understanding of EV technology.
The training center can accommodate more than 20 job-ready trainees, providing them with relevant knowledge and skills for the learning process related to electric vehicles.
In addition, Chery donated a Chery E5 electric vehicle complete with charging facilities. This donation will be used directly in the learning process, enabling participants to master diagnostic procedures, maintenance, and troubleshooting of EV systems in a practical manner.
"From Chery's perspective, our goal is to develop technical and non-technical competencies for Chery dealers and share knowledge with BBPVP, which will in turn create a skilled workforce capable of meeting the challenges of electric vehicle development," said Rifkie Setiawan, Head of Brand & Marketing Department of PT Chery Sales Indonesia, in an official statement.
Furthermore, Chery also plans to hold a national skills competition (National Skill Contest) at BBPVP Bekasi for Chery dealer technicians. The winner of this competition will have the opportunity to represent Indonesia in a global competition in China, demonstrating the potential and quality of local electric vehicle technicians on the international stage.
