FIFA Rankings: Argentina Remains on Top, Indonesia Climbs 5 Spots

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Argentinian national team, winner of the 2022 World Cup, continues to lead the latest FIFA ranking after collecting 1885.36 points. Based on the latest release on Thursday, Argentina's points decreased by 0.8 points from the previous release on April 3. Argentina remains at the top because their points still cannot be surpassed by the four teams below them, namely Spain (1867.09 points), France (1862.03 points), England (1813.32 points), and Brazil (1777.69 points).

Changes occurred in the sixth to tenth positions after Croatia returned to the top ten, collecting 1707.51 points in the tenth position. Croatia displaced Italy, which dropped two levels to the 11th position.

Portugal, the winner of the Nations League, rose to the sixth position, displacing the Netherlands to the seventh position. Belgium remains in eighth place, while Germany climbed one spot to ninth.

Meanwhile, Mexico, the newly crowned Gold Cup champion, climbed four levels to the 13th position with 1689.73 points, displacing the team they defeated in the final, the United States, to the 15th position with 1671.04 points.

In this latest release, Honduras was the team that gained the most additional points, with 46.33 points. This increase moved them up from 75th to 66th position with 1,379.84 points.

Costa Rica achieved the highest rise in ranking, namely 14 levels, as they climbed to the 40th position with 1493.85 points, from the previous 54th position with 1459.13 points.

On the other hand, Haiti lost the most points in the latest release, dropping seven levels to 90th position and losing 30.11 points for a total of 1,261.42. Apart from Haiti, other countries that dropped seven levels (the most decline) are Congo, Jamaica, and the Maldives.

Meanwhile, in this latest release, the Indonesian national team rose to 118th in the world rankings, climbing five levels. This new ranking marks a personal record for the Garuda team as it is their best position in the last 19 years.
