TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Meeting with four deputy speakers of the House of Representatives (DPR) in the Delegation Room of the Nusantara III Building in Senayan, Jakarta, shortly after midnight on Wednesday, August 26, 2026, Supriyono of the United Pati People's Alliance (AMPB) had an opportunity to speak with President Prabowo Subianto. The man known as Botok spoke with the President for about a few minutes by phone, using the mobile phone of House Deputy Speaker and Gerindra Party Executive Chair Sufmi Dasco Ahmad.

Supriyono explained to Prabowo that the planned protest by residents of Pati Regency, Central Java, was an expression of citizens' aspirations. He also told the President that no group was controlling the AMPB or directing it to demonstrate in Jakarta. "No one was riding on our movement or financing it, not the Solo gang or any group in power," Supriyono said, recounting his conversation with the President in an interview with Tempo on Thursday, September 3, 2026.

Supriyono said he had promised President Prabowo that the Pati residents' protest, scheduled for Thursday afternoon, August 27, 2026, would proceed peacefully. A state official who attended the meeting in the Delegation Room said Supriyono had also told Prabowo that they wanted to help the government fight corruption. That was why they were demanding passage of the Asset Forfeiture Bill and the death penalty for corruptors.

The conversation between Supriyono and President Prabowo was one of several topics discussed into the early hours of Thursday, August 27. Supriyono and 11 colleagues from the AMPB also told Dasco and three other House deputy speakers about the situation facing Pati residents ahead of their planned protest in Jakarta.
