TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Jakarta Governor Pramono Anung will offer free access to the public wishing to visit various tourist destinations owned and managed by the city administration. The Jakarta Provincial Government is also preparing free public transportation services as a token of appreciation for its citizens.
This policy comes as a special gift to residents during the upcoming celebrations for Jakarta's 499th anniversary, which is commemorated every June 22. The Provincial Government plans to open the gates for free at several local government-owned destinations, including Ancol, Ragunan Wildlife Park, museums, and public libraries.
"For tourist sites owned and managed by the Jakarta Provincial Government, we will consider providing free access. For instance, entry to Ancol, Ragunan, museums, libraries, and so on," Pramono said during the Jakarta Future Festival at Taman Ismail Marzuki (TIM) in Jakarta on Friday, June 5, 2026.
Pramono also guaranteed that on the day of Jakarta's anniversary, the public will be able to ride city-operated transit services free of charge, including Transjakarta, MRT Jakarta, and LRT Jakarta.
Meanwhile, commuters can already look forward to utilizing a wave of fresh infrastructure, such as the newly revamped Rasuna Said corridor, the Jakarta International Stadium (JIS) commuter rail station, and the pedestrian bridge connecting Ancol directly to JIS, which was built to improve mobility for visitors. The infrastructure project is slated for an official inauguration by the DKI Jakarta Provincial Government as part of the broader 499th Jakarta anniversary celebrations.
"We will make the announcement just before the 22nd," Pramono concluded.
