Manchester United End Premier League Season With 3-0 Win Over Brighton

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Manchester United secured a convincing 3-0 victory over Brighton & Hove Albion on the final matchday of the 2025/2026 Premier League season at the Amex Stadium on Sunday (May 24).

Patrick Dorgu, Bryan Mbeumo, and Bruno Fernandes each scored United's three goals.

The victory ensured the Red Devils finished third in the final standings with 71 points, securing a Champions League spot next season.

Meanwhile, Brighton finished eighth with 53 points and will play in the Conference League, according to the Premier League's official website.

Brighton played aggressively from the start. In the 9th minute, Diego Gomez attempted a threat with a shot from outside the penalty area that went wide of Senne Lammens' right goal.

The hosts had another chance four minutes later through Ferdi Kadioglu, but his shot went over the bar.

Brighton only managed to break the deadlock five minutes before halftime. However, the goal was disallowed for offside.

While Brighton failed to capitalize on their chances, Manchester United took the lead in the 43rd minute.

From a Bruno Fernandes corner, Patrick Dorgu met the ball with a powerful header that eluded goalkeeper Bart Verbruggen.

This assist was a special one for Fernandes, as it was his 21st of the season.

This achievement allowed the Portuguese midfielder to break the record for most assists in a single Premier League season, surpassing the previous record held by Thierry Henry and Kevin De Bruyne.

Manchester United became more comfortable as halftime approached. In the 44th minute, a neat combination between Amad Diallo and Mason Mount in the penalty area resulted in a cross that Bryan Mbeumo tapped home with a simple tap-in.

This goal gave the Red Devils a 2-0 lead at the end of the first half.

After the break, Ruben Amorim's team continued to attack. Just five minutes into the second half, Manchester United extended their lead to 3-0.

This time, Bruno Fernandes was not only the creator but also the scorer. Taking advantage of Patrick Dorgu's pass, the captain fired a low shot into the left corner of the Brighton goal, which Verbruggen couldn't reach.

Brighton tried to fight back for the remainder of the match, but United's defense was disciplined and maintained their lead until the final whistle.

This 3-0 victory was a sweet end to the 2025/2026 season for Manchester United.
