TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Financial Transaction Reports and Analysis Center (PPATK) disclosed that 550,000 people receiving social aid in 2024 were actively involved in online gambling.
The Head of PPATK, Ivan Yustiavanda, stated that the total deposit for online gambling from these 550,000 individuals reached Rp900 billion. "The total deposit for Judol amounted to more than Rp900 billion in over 7 million transactions," Ivan said when contacted by Tempo on Saturday, July 5, 2025.
Previously, PPATK had frozen millions of social aid recipient accounts, deemed unfit to receive aid, as they were found to contain large sums of money, reaching millions of rupiah.
The PPATK also discovered accounts that had been inactive for more than five years but were still receiving social aid. According to him, social aid accounts that remain unused for an extended period imply that the recipients do not require the money urgently and hence are not eligible for aid.
Ivan mentioned that the total blocked balance from millions of accounts exceeded Rp2 trillion. This value was derived from the freezing of millions of accounts in just one state-owned bank.
