TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto, along with several members of the Merah Putih Cabinet, held a limited meeting to finalize the national industry transformation in the textile industry and the production of automotive industry chips. This was conveyed by Cabinet Secretary Teddy Indra Wijaya.
"The President has requested strengthening in the textile or garment industry. One of them is by revitalizing the supply chain," said Teddy, citing Antara, on Monday, January 12, 2026.
In addition, Prabowo also placed great emphasis on strengthening the automotive and electronics sectors through investment in semiconductor technology development. This step is aimed at building a national chip industry that will support Indonesia's future automotive, digital, and electronic industries.
The limited meeting also discussed the development of plans to lay the first stone for six new points of downstreaming projects with an investment value of up to US$6 billion, scheduled to take place in early February 2026.
Previously, CEO Danantara Rosan Roeslani stated that the latest downstreaming project includes the development of aluminum smelter industries from alumina and smelter grade alumina (SGA) facilities from Bauxite in Mempawah, West Kalimantan.
In addition, there are bioavtur production facilities in Cilacap, Central Java, integrated coconut processing facilities in Morowali, Central Sulawesi, which are already operational. The laying of the first stone also includes the development of bioethanol facilities along with five poultry farming facilities.
Teddy stated that President Prabowo will finalize the plan for the inauguration of the Integrated Energy Infrastructure of Pertamina RDMP Balikpapan to be held on Monday, January 12, 2026.
In his statement, the meeting held in Hambalang was attended by several ministers such as Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs Airlangga Hartarto, Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources Bahlil Lahadalia, Minister of Investment and Downstreaming/Head of BKPM as well as CEO Danantara Rosan Roeslani. Then Minister of Agriculture Amran Sulaiman, Minister of Higher Education, Science, and Technology Brian Yuliarto, and State Secretary Minister Prasetyo Hadi.
