Why Prosecutors Did Not Detain Febrie Adriansyah

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Head of the Attorney General's Office Legal Information Center, Anang Supriatna, explains the reasons why the prosecutor did not detain former Deputy Attorney General for Special Crimes (Jampidsus), Febrie Adrisnyah. "He is indeed here. He can be questioned at any time," said Anang on Wednesday, July 15, 2026. Anang also confirmed that Febrie is still in Indonesia.

Anang also mentioned that the prosecutor has issued an order for investigation (sprindik) in the case involving Febrie Adriansyah. Three sprindik were issued: the first for alleged corruption and money laundering at PT Krakatau Steel; the second for corruption related to the Steam Power Plant of the State Electricity Company, which caused a blackout in Sumatra; and the third for corruption at PT Asuransi Sosial Angkatan Bersenjata, or PT Asabri.

The sprindik was issued on July 13, 2026. Following the issuance of the new sprindik, Febrie still remains a witness. "It's still a general investigation," said Anang. Not only Febrie, Don Ritto, who was previously declared a suspect, now also has the status of a witness.

Anang emphasized that after the case was transferred from the police, the investigation into the three cases is now entirely handled by the Attorney General's Office. The prosecutors also formed a special team consisting of nine senior prosecutors who are not part of the Jampidsus team.

Anang reaffirmed that the special team will review the results of the previous investigation conducted by the Corruption Eradication Task Force of the Indonesian Police (Kortastipidkor Polri) and the Jakarta Metropolitan Police. Although a new sprindik has been issued, Anang ensures that the investigation conducted by the police will be part of the special team's consideration.
