TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - A Muslim legal advocacy group has reported five people to the Jakarta Metropolitan Police over alleged religious blasphemy at The Sounds Project music festival in Ancol, North Jakarta.
Moch. Rizki Abdullah, a lawyer representing the Muslim Legal Team, said the report named the event organizer, an alcoholic beverage producer, two masters of ceremonies and a woman who allegedly recited verses from the Quran to receive a bottle of alcohol.
“We are reporting approximately five parties today,” Rizki told reporters at the Jakarta Metropolitan Police headquarters on Tuesday.
He said the report was filed as a legal response to what the group considers the alleged misuse of religious symbols at a public event.
The group submitted evidence to investigators, including video footage stored on a flash drive and printed screenshots related to the incident.

Rizki said the group cited Article 300 of Indonesia’s revised Criminal Code (KUHP) in its report, with additional provisions potentially added after consultation with investigators.
He said the group did not seek mediation with the reported parties before filing the complaint because it considered the incident a matter of public interest.
The group also urged authorities to revoke the operating permits of the event organizer and the alcohol producer allegedly involved in the incident.
The report was registered under number STTLP/B/5914/VIII/2026/SPKT/POLDA METRO JAYA on August 11, 2026.
Police had previously said they were investigating a viral video allegedly showing religious blasphemy during The Sounds Project festival in Ancol.
Jakarta Metropolitan Police spokesperson Budi Hermanto said the incident allegedly occurred at the festival venue at around 10 p.m. on Sunday, August 9.
“The Pademangan Police have coordinated with the event organizer and the booth operator at the venue to support the legal process,” Budi said.
He added that investigators had scheduled clarification meetings with representatives of the event organizer and the event's master of ceremonies.
