TEMPO.CO, Jakarta Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, has been selected to host the 2027 MotoGP season launch, which will be held at Botafogo Beach on February 21, 2027.

The launch will bring together all MotoGP teams, riders, and manufacturers for a single event before the 2027 season begins, with Sugarloaf Mountain serving as the main backdrop.

"The MotoGP Season Launch has become one of the defining moments of the year for our championship, bringing together every team, rider and manufacturer as we begin a new season," said MotoGP Group CEO Carmelo Ezpeleta in an official MotoGP statement on Tuesday.

Ezpeleta said the selection of Rio de Janeiro is due to the high level of enthusiasm among Brazilians for MotoGP's return to Goiânia in 2026.

"The enthusiasm shown by Brazilian fans during our sold-out return to Goiânia in 2026 confirmed the extraordinary connection between MotoGP and Brazil," said Ezpeleta.

The 2026 Brazilian Grand Prix in Goiânia recorded nearly 150,000 spectators over the race weekend, with all tickets sold.

After Bangkok and Kuala Lumpur as the launch locations for previous seasons, MotoGP has now chosen Rio de Janeiro to continue its pre-season concept, combining team presentations with entertainment and fan activities.

Botafogo Beach will be the centerpiece of the event, with all 2027 MotoGP bikes on display alongside riders and teams before the season-opening round.

Fans will also have the opportunity to watch team presentations, rider interviews, manufacturer interactive displays, and a number of entertainment activities featuring Brazilian musicians and international artists.

MotoGP stated that the season launch has become a key event on the championship calendar, attracting international media, broadcast rights holders, commercial partners, and fans from various countries.

The launch of the 2026 MotoGP season in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, is reported to have generated more than US$7 million in economic value.

Rio de Janeiro Mayor Eduardo Cavaliere said the event provides an opportunity for Rio to introduce the city to MotoGP fans worldwide.

"Few cities can match Rio's combination of natural beauty, sporting passion and globally recognized landmarks," said Cavaliere.

"From Botafogo Beach to Christ the Redeemer, this event will showcase the very best of Rio de Janeiro to millions of fans around the world while creating unforgettable experiences for riders, teams, partners and visitors," he added.

MotoGP will announce further details regarding the event lineup, fan activities, and media agenda for the launch of the 2027 season.
