This was revealed by the spokesperson for the Iranian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Esmaeil Baghaei, on Tuesday morning, June 10, 2025, as quoted by Anadolu.

US President Donald Trump previously stated that the next round of talks, led by US special envoy Steve Witkoff and Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi, would take place on Thursday, June 12.

However, a senior Iranian official and a US official said that day was not feasible.Iran and the US resumed nuclear diplomacy in April, with Oman acting as the mediator. Since then, they have held five rounds of talks in Muscat and Rome.

Although both parties have acknowledged some progress, a definitive breakthrough has not been achieved.Uranium enrichment has emerged as a major sticking point in the ongoing negotiations, with the US calling for its halt, while Iran insists that the program will continue.

Trump emphasized that the two sides still disagree on whether the country will be allowed to continue enriching uranium on Iranian soil.

"They are asking for things that you can't do. They don't want to give up what they have to give up," Trump told reporters at the White House on Monday. "They want enrichment. We can't have enrichment."

Iran's Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei said he does not expect negotiations with the US to yield results. He stressed that Iran "doesn't need anyone's permission" to enrich uranium.

A day earlier, as reported by CNA, Iran said it would soon submit a counterproposal for the nuclear deal to

the US. This is in response to the offer from the US considered "unacceptable" by Tehran.

"We cannot accept the US proposal. It is not the result of previous negotiation rounds. We will deliver our own proposal to the other party through Oman after it is finished. This proposal is reasonable, logical, and balanced," Baghaei said.

"We have to ensure that before the lifting of sanctions, Iran will effectively gain economic benefits and that its banking and trade relations with other countries will return to normal."

Iran said the West has turned a blind eye to Israel's nuclear program even while opposing Iran. Israel neither confirms nor denies that they possess nuclear weapons.

Baghaei said sensitive documents from Israel, which Iran had previously promised to reveal, would show "that the parties that continuously question Iran's peaceful nuclear program actively strengthen Israel's military nuclear program".

The negotiating parties must not allow Israel to disrupt the diplomatic process, he emphasized. While Trump said Iran was the main topic of conversation in his Monday phone call with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.

Netanyahu's office said the president informed him that talks with Iran would continue at the end of this week.

During his first term in 2018, Trump withdrew from the 2015 nuclear deal between Iran and six major powers and reimposed sanctions that have crippled Iran's economy.

Iran responded by ramping up uranium enrichment far beyond the pact's limits.Trump has threatened military action against Iran if a new nuclear agreement is not reached to replace the 2015 nuclear deal, which was withdrawn by Washington in 2018.
