TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - President Prabowo Subianto attended the 2026 BRICS Summit in New Delhi, India, on Saturday, September 12, 2026. The high-level meeting brought together world leaders representing member states and BRICS partner nations.

According to a statement from the Presidential Secretariat, Prabowo arrived at the Bharat Mandapam venue on Saturday afternoon via state limousine. He wore a dark suit paired with a traditional black peci cap.

Upon entering the complex, Prabowo was greeted by Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi. The two leaders shook hands and embraced before Prabowo was escorted into the main venue.

Following the welcome ceremony, Prabowo joined fellow heads of state in the central holding lounge. Delegates used the brief gathering prior to the opening session to exchange greetings and touch on global developments. The formal BRICS summit sessions subsequently proceeded behind closed doors.

This year’s summit convened under the banner "Building for Resilience, Innovation, Cooperation, and Sustainability." Organizers noted that the theme underscores a shared commitment among BRICS members to fortify economic resilience, foster innovation, deepen multilateral partnerships, and advance sustainable development.

Key summit attendees included Chinese President Xi Jinping, Russian President Vladimir Putin, Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian, South African President Cyril Ramaphosa, Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi, Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim, Abu Dhabi Crown Prince Sheikh Khaled bin Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Ethiopian Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed Ali, and Vietnamese Prime Minister Le Minh Hung.

Other high-level dignitaries in attendance included Philippine President Ferdinand Marcos Jr., Burundian President Évariste Ndayishimiye, Kazakh President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, Brazilian Foreign Minister Mauro Vieira, Thai Deputy Prime Minister Sihasak Phuangketkeow, Uzbek Deputy Prime Minister Jamshid Kuchkarov, and Ugandan Vice President Jessica Rose Epel Alupo.
