
TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - A mass shooting at a school in the city of Graz, Austria on Tuesday, June 10, 2025, has left at least 8 people dead, as reported by Euronews. Quoting police sources, the assailant of a school shooting was a student and is believed to have committed suicide after the incident. The perpetrator reportedly entered two classrooms and began shooting.
Mayor Elke Kahr described the event as a "horrific tragedy," as reported by the Austria Press Agency.
Kahr added that the casualties were seven students and one adult. Kahr stated that many people were taken to the hospital with injuries.
According to the Kurier newspaper, the police are still considering the possibility of a second attacker, following reports of more than one firearm being used in the incident.
Police in the Styria state of Austria announced through a post on X that an operation involving multiple task forces, including the special unit Cobra, was ongoing in Graz.
Local police said they had been deployed after shots were heard from the building.
The state broadcaster ORF reported that students and teachers were among the injured. Around 28 people were hospitalized for treatment related to the shooting, according to local press.
The suspected perpetrator, who is currently considered a student, committed suicide when approached by armed police officers. Police operations are ongoing at the BORG high school on Dreierschuetzengasse street on Tuesday morning.
