TEMPO.CO, Boyolali - Indonesian Vice President Gibran Rakabuming Raka warned that recipients of wage subsidy aid (BSU) who use the funds for unlawful activities, such as online gambling, will face legal consequences.
"There will be laws in place if this aid (BSU) is used for unlawful activities such as judol (online gambling)," Gibran said while inspecting the distribution of BSU at the Boyolali Post Office, Central Java, on Friday, July 18, 2025.
Gibran mentioned that sanctions imposed on BSU recipients who use it for unlawful activities could include the revocation of the aid. The mechanism will be executed in accordance with the established regulations.
He stated that the government could track the use of the aid through the recipients' bank accounts by cooperating with the Financial Transaction Reports and Analysis Centre (PPATK) and the Ministry of Communication and Digital (Komdigi). "And I emphasize once again that if it is used for such activities (gambling), anything, we can certainly trace the account through PPATK and others, and I ask for their cooperation, including Komdigi," he added.
Gibran mentioned that Boyolali Regency is the third location he visited. During the visit, the eldest son of Jokowi was accompanied by Deputy Minister of Manpower, Immanuel Ebenezer Gerungan. On that occasion, Gibran had an audience with the BSU recipients. "It is clear that I emphasize how this program can be distributed properly and on target. There should be a real-time dashboard, and the disbursement should be a certain percentage. Ultimately, everything should be clear by the end of the month," he said.
He also hoped that the BSU recipients in the Boyolali Regency would use the funds for productive activities, especially. For example, it could be used to meet the educational needs of children at the start of the new school year or for daily necessities. "I mentioned earlier, this is the start of the school year. It should be used for children's activities or maybe for the mothers as well for daily necessity shopping for productive activities," he said.
