TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The head of the Indonesian National Nutrition Body (BGN), Sudaryono, asserts that the heads of Nutrition Fulfillment Service Units (SPPG), or better known as MBG (Free Nutritious Meal) kitchens, are prohibited from demanding or receiving any form of remuneration from partners or foundations. According to him, SPPG heads who hold public office can be charged with gratification crimes if they solicit payments related to their positions.
"Whoever, then the head of the SPPG, I emphasize here, no matter what kitchen, whoever it is, if they receive or request a fee or additional payment from partners or foundations, that is an act of gratification," said Sudaryono in a press conference at the BGN office, Jakarta, on Monday, July 27, 2026.
Sudaryono stated that the head of SPPG is a government employee with a work agreement (PPPK) who has the status of a state servant. Therefore, any request for additional income from partners or foundations related to their position is a violation of the law.
In addition to addressing the practice of levies, BGN also reminds that the procurement of foodstuffs at each SPPG should be carried out fairly and transparently. Sudaryono emphasized that SPPG heads are prohibited from purchasing food at unreasonable prices or asking for feedback or remuneration from suppliers.
"Because SPPG heads who then buy food at unreasonable prices, or ask for feedback, that is also part of a gratification violation. Whoever commits that violation, we will decisively, if proven, dismiss them. We will suspend or close their kitchen," he said.
BGN has opened a reporting channel for partners, foundations, and others who find evidence of illegal levies or violations in the implementation of MBG (free meal). Sudaryono stated that the reports will be followed up in accordance with applicable provisions.
He stated that enforcement against violations is necessary to prevent tarnishing the reputation of thousands of SPPG heads, partners, and implementation personnel who have been running the program honestly.
"We do not want violations committed by a few individuals, by a small number of kitchens, to then tarnish the reputation of people who have been working hard. People who have been working honestly and well then tainted just because of one or two individuals who are not working properly," said Sudaryono.
