TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Tech giant Apple is gearing up to launch the second generation of its ultra-thin smartphone, the iPhone Air 2. The device is rumored to debut alongside the iPhone 18 and iPhone 18e in early 2027.

Industry leaks circulating from tech analysts suggest the iPhone Air 2 will feature a battery capacity exceeding 3,500 mAh. This upgrade marks an increase of roughly 11 percent over its predecessor, which housed a smaller 3,149 mAh battery.

"While that may not seem particularly large by today's standards, it would be an upgrade over the 3,149mAh battery in the original iPhone Air," according to a report by GSM Arena on Wednesday, July 8, 2026.

This hardware upgrade will be driven by Apple's upcoming powerhouse, the A20 Pro chipset, built on a cutting-edge 2nm architecture. Additionally, the handset will boast a 6.55-inch LTPO AMOLED display with a smooth 120Hz refresh rate.

The iPhone Air 2 is also rumored to feature a rear dual-camera setup, combining a 48MP primary sensor with an ultrawide lens. The arrangement of these internal components has been carefully optimized to preserve the smartphone's ultra-slim profile.
