TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - United States President Donald Trump stated that the memorandum of understanding (MoU) signed with Iran to end the conflict has expired.
"It's a very interesting question to me. I think it's over. I don't want to deal with them anymore. They're scum," Trump told reporters on the sidelines of the NATO summit in Ankara, Turkey, as quoted by ANTARA.
Islamabad's MoU, which consists of 14 points of agreement between Iran and the U.S., came into effect on June 18 after being electronically signed by Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian and President Trump.
The signing of the MoU comes after several weeks of tensions in the region, triggered by U.S. and Israeli attacks on Iran.
In the MoU, Article 1 regulates the ceasefire and cessation of military operations.
Then, Article 4 addresses the Lebanese front and regulates the withdrawal of Israeli troops, while Article 5 regulates temporary navigation and security coordination in the Strait of Hormuz.
Articles 10 and 11 respectively regulate Iran's oil exports and access to frozen Iranian assets.
